Beefy Rotini in Tomato Sauce

Beefy Rotini in Tomato Sauce

Description

My grandma and mom used to make this all the time. I never cared for it as a child, but now that I'm grown I get a craving for it every once in a while. It's a simple, saucy meal that feeds a crowd.

Ingredients

  • 1 pound lean ground beef
  • 2 medium onions, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 (46 fluid ounce) bottle tomato juice
  • 1 (8 ounce) can tomato sauce
  • 3 cubes beef bouillon
  • 2 teaspoons chili powder
  • 1 teaspoon garlic salt
  • 1 pinch ground paprika
  • 1 pinch garlic powder, or to taste
  • salt and ground black pepper to taste
  • 1 (16 ounce) package rotini pasta

Instructions

  1. Heat a large, heavy pot over medium-high heat. Cook and stir ground beef, onions, and garlic in the hot skillet until beef is browned and crumbly and onions and garlic are softened, 5 to 7 minutes. Add tomato juice, tomato sauce, bouillon cubes, chili powder, garlic salt, paprika, garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Bring to a boil, while stirring. Reduce heat and simmer, stirring occasionally, until reduced, 30 to 40 minutes.
  2. Meanwhile, bring a large pot of lightly salted water to a boil. Cook spaghetti in the boiling water, stirring occasionally, until tender yet firm to the bite, about 12 minutes. Drain.
  3. Stir pasta into sauce and serve hot.
